Online Zen School

Online Zen School on YouTube

Join us and subscribe to the Online Zen School on YouTube—None Zen Center’s dedication to the digital generation and generations to come!

We are now including AI-generated videos at the School to deliver vibrant Zen teachings that meet the needs of a new generation in the evolving AI era. At the same time, we continue to carry forward the traditional, authentic Zen teachings we inherit from the Caodong (Ch. 曹洞), Linji (Ch. 臨濟), and Dharma Drum (Ch. 法鼓) lineages—now shared through today’s digital tools.

The Online Zen School was established to fulfill a commitment made by our Shifu (Master) Linda to honor her teacher, our late grand teacher Master Guoru (1951-2024), by spreading the vivid lineage teachings worldwide. The School was first launched on March 29, 2019, via the Teachable platform. To reach a broader audience, embrace the digital generation, and mark the 12th anniversary of None Zen Center, we moved the School to YouTube in October 2025.

With its on-demand video class design, the School serves global Zen communities without the limits of physical centers, space, or time. Like all classes offered by None Zen Center, the School provides structured Zen teachings within a tuition-free Zen meditation environment.

All videos in the School are created voluntarily by the Center’s Zen masters, instructors, students, and friends. We sincerely invite you to join the production team. We also welcome donations to support the cost of AI tools and, hopefully in the near future, to engage professional production houses to improve video quality and quantity.

We need your immediate support. Together, let’s build an accessible and tuition-free Zen environment for the digital generation and for generations to come.

You may give your donation by clicking on the button below to our Paypal donation page. You do not need a Paypal account to donate. But if you consider giving motherly recurring donations, you will need a Paypal account.

Just like all the Zen classes provided by None Zen Center, the Online Zen School is tuition-free. As a non-profit organization, providing tuition-free Zen classes and run entirely by donations, we sincerely ask for your giving to support a tuition-free Zen environment and help continually grow the Zen community. Please consider donating $5, $8, $12 or any generous amount monthly. Any one-time or recurring donations at less or greater amounts are truly and deeply appreciated. We thank you for your love, care, and generosity for the Zen community.

While transitioning to YouTube, we are still maintaining our original Online Zen School on the Teachable platform. You may find more classes available on Teachable for now, but this service will conclude by the end of 2025.

While transitioning to YouTube, we are still maintaining our original Online Zen School on the Teachable platform. You may find more classes available on Teachable for now, but this service will conclude by the end of 2025.

The Online Zen School aims to provide a structured and serious Zen learning and practicing environment to spread the Zen teaching throughout the entire world via the Internet, without the boundaries of physical Zen centers or countries, or the limitation of space and time.

Spreading out the Zen teaching globally is the lifetime mission of our Founding Masters, Shifu (i.e. master) Jeremy and Shifu Linda. When they received the Dharma Transmission from their Shifu, Zen Master Guoru, they were enjoined to not only carry on the lineage teaching but also distribute the lineage teaching worldwide.  The enjoinment was taken seriously and rooted deeply in their mind from that point, and years later, they figured it out that the form of an online school is the way to bring the concept of global teaching to life.

On March 29, 2019, the Online Zen School was launched with two courses, ‘Basic Zen Concepts‘ and ‘Monk Boshan’s Advice for Investigating Zen‘ (which was replaced by Advanced Class in 2020 ), as a soft opening of the global teaching, to celebrate the 9th anniversary that our Shifu Jeremy and Shifu Linda met their Shifu, Zen Master Guoru. One year later on March 29, 2020, to celebrate the 10th anniversary, we launched the online version of Beginner’s Zen Class and Bridging Class, and Advanced Class. The idea is to provide the structured Zen classes and help practitioners build up their regular meditation habit as we do in our physical Zen centers; the purpose is to lead practitioners to advance their Zen practice in order to uncover the nature of self, which is the same, core, and only purpose of Zen meditation, that we share in the None Zen Center.

Here are the courses you may find in the Online Zen School. Please note that you need to sign up for the Online Zen School AND enroll in courses to take classes. Once you enroll in a course, you will receive a class announcement email every time when we have a new release for that course. Please contact us at school@thenone.org if you have any questions about the Online Zen School.
