Master Guoru Zhengzhan (1951-2024)
Our revered late grand teacher, Master Guoru, passed away in Taiwan on October 2, 2024. Master Guoru dedicated his entire life to propagating the lineage teachings of Chinese Zen Buddhism, serving as the 58th-generation Linji Master, the 52nd-generation Caodong Master, and the 2nd-generation Dharma Drum Master.
Both of our founders, Shifu (Teacher) Jeremy and Shifu Linda, are Dharma heirs of Master Guoru. To express their gratitude and honor Master Guoru’s teachings, Shifu Linda (Changji) delivered a eulogy titled “Continue, Courageously Continue” to introduce Mater Guoru’s learning and meditation experience and pay gratitude to his lifelong devotion to Chinese Zen Buddhism at Master Guoru’s memorial service on October 10, 2024. The eulogy was written in Chinese by Shifu Linda (click to read the Chinese version), Master Guoru’s second Dharma heir, and was translated into English by his grand disciple, Andrew Tan (click to read the English Version). Based on the English version, it was further translated into French by his grand disciple, Laetitia Chiragarhua (click to the French version), and into Spanish by his grand disciple, John Morillo (click to the Spanish version).
Shifu Jeremy (Changxing), the first Dharma heir of Master Guoru, also shares his learning experiences with Master Guoru and introduces Master Guoru’s core teaching: “Perpetuate the lineage teachings of Chinese Zen Buddhism for another five hundred years; do not allow their extinction.” Click to the watch the video and read the article (English version). The Chinese version is also available.
Additionally, Shifu Linda initiates a project “Learning with Master Guoru” to collect learning experience from Master Guoru’s followers to honor Master Guoru’s lifelong teachings.
We are now sharing these articles and videos to present the core values and lineage teachings we uphold at None Zen Center. We sincerely invite you to meditate with us and support one another as we continue moving forward on the path toward uncovering our self nature.
