As we approach the end of 2021, with the changes and uncertainties showing no sign of abating, we are constantly reminded of the impermanent nature of reality. Yet amid the doom and gloom, we also want to encourage ourselves and the Zen Community to constantly investigate Zen our self-nature, through the practice of Dharma-Dana.
What is Dharma-Dana? Dharma-Dana (or in Chinese 法布施, fa-bu-shi), is the practice of sharing our spiritual support with each other. Just like how Zen masters share the teaching of Zen with practitioners, we as Zen practitioners can also share spiritual support with each other through mutual encouragement.
“Share your Zen Space” From Nov to Jan 31, 2022, we hope you join us in our “Share your Zen Space” campaign. Whenever you meditate, please share a photo of your meditation space or setting on our FB page. It can even be a photo of your pet which always snuggle up on your cushion or the weather as you look out the window. In fact, thoughts in the form of video or text are welcomed too. The point is to encourage ourselves and the community to stick with our regular meditation habit.
The Movie The Adjustment Bureau leads us to the question: should we be adjusted by the plan that conducted on our past experiences for a well-prepared, lower risk, and predictable future, or not to be? It also links to the question that we deal in Zen practice: are we attached to our perception, or can we break through and liberate from our conception?
This is the question we’d like to talk about in the coming Zen Party. Come along to join us for the movie trailer, discussion, and vegetarian food!
